What is Mahjong Solitaire?

Mahjong Solitaire is a tile-matching puzzle rather than the four-player game of Mahjong. A layered layout contains matching pairs, and the goal is to remove every tile by choosing two identical tiles that are both free.

A tile is playable only when it is not covered and at least one horizontal side is open. Because each pair you remove changes which tiles are available, choosing the order of matches is the heart of the puzzle.

How to play

How to play Mahjong Solitaire

  1. Choose two identical open tiles to remove them.
  2. A tile is open when at least one of its horizontal sides is free.
  3. Covered or blocked tiles become playable as the pairs around and above them are cleared.
  4. Clear every pair to complete the layout.
